The torches lining the walls of the hallway flickered and crackled as the fire burned, casting the shadows of anything caught within their light. The sound of metal and mail filled the halls as a troop of soldiers walked down the hall, their faces stern and their weapons sharpened. These were the men of Silent Knight, one of two dastardly band of assassins that inhabited The Void. These so called chivalrous men thought it a kindness to end the suffering of those they found sick and weak, regardless of their health. Tonight they were within one of the Ancient Realms, Rome. There were seven in all, six clad in matching silver armor and chain-mail. The seventh, their captain, wore full set of castle-forged armor, the color of onyx, with a white ploom on his helm. The six followed behind their captain, three rows of two, as they made their way down a staircase at the end of the hallway, outside of a large oak door, and to the gates of a large manor. Upon reaching the gate, the Knight in black raised his visor. peering into the night and at the front doors of the manor. He raised his hands to his mouth and took a deep breath. "Open your gates, and we will spare the children! You are guilty of working with the Gate Guardians. I am even told one of you are in their ranks. If you do not give yourself up peacefully, your family-line will end tonight!" The Black Knight's voice carried over the entire manor, his threat ringing through the halls.
There was silence for a time and the wind began to pick up, sending a chill through a few of the six, though their Captain stood firm. Suddenly a whistling sound filled the air and the Black Knight reached for his visor, slamming it down just in time to have a dart collide with the metal on his face, causing the helmet to dent slightly. He staggered back, caught his footing and quickly unsheathed his sword. He glanced around, his angry and embarrassed expression concealed by his visor. "Only a coward attacks from the shadows! I now rescind my vow to spare the children. You will all die tonight! Ser Alistor, if you would." He called to one of the Silent Knights. Ser Alistor stepped forward quickly, his right hand reaching over his shoulder as he unsheathed his greatsword. As he unsheathed it, he brought the weapon down in a savage swing down toward the gate, using the speed and force of his swing to slice through the metal of the gate, severing the chain that held the gate closed and twisted the metal into grotesque shapes. The five remaining knights answered his accomplishment by unsheathing their weapons, charging through the now open gate. As they came closer to the manor, the shadows around them began to disappear with the help of the torches in the courtyard. The seven Silent Knights took a defensive formation upon reaching the end of the courtyard, leaving only open space between them and the door. The Captain stepped forward, brandishing his sword, once more bellowing into the night. "Show yourselves, all of you!"
"All of us you say?", called out a voice from the front of the manor stairs. Out of the shadows appeared a lone man, a hood covering all but his crooked smile. "Gentlemen, there is only me. Welcome to my new manor. I'm sorry to say that the previous occupants vacated the property some time ago. I do enjoy your threats though, this place was starting to bore me, all of the neighbors seemed to have disappeared during the beginning of my time here. They fled, raving on and on about something. A ghost in white, they said, one who lived in the shadows." The man chuckled to himself, his hand moving up to stroke his chin.
The Black Knight stepped forward, his hand tightening on the hilt of his sword. "This land is the Property of the Silent Knights, by right of conquest. The bandit guild that inhabited this manor was our contract, you had no ri-"

Surely you have better things to do then to steal land from a corrupt Gate Guardian. Especially in a time period where your kind will be looked upon with suspicion." The hooded man slowly reached his right hand toward his back as if he was stretching in a bored manner, his eyes still on the seven Knights. "Or was it a secret location to plan your operations in this time you were looking for? Regardless of the reason, you, this is Rome, you do not b-"
"-To hell with him, kill him and make sure there aren't anymore of of his kin inside of th-" The Captain began but never finished as the hooded man turned his back to him. As he did so, his right hand grabbed hold of his Hasta, the spear unlatching from its straps as he made a grab for the very end of the spear's shaft, giving the weapon's blade enough reach to cleave through the Black Knight's neck. The Black Armor fell to it's knees and onto it's side, the remaining six taking a step back, but remaining silent. "I wasn't done speaking. For a decoy, you sure were obnoxious and obvious. They are called the Silent Knights for a reason. He glanced toward the remaining six, slamming the butt of the spear into the ground. "Now, are the rest of you going to bore me as much as he did, or am going to actually have an interesting evening? As I was trying to tell our loudmouthed friend here.." He glanced from the body, to the head a few feet away. "..And there. There is only myself in this manor. But I am afraid that I am not permitted to vacant this lot. You have my permission to leave peacefully, or you can join your decoy." The hooded man threw back his hood, revealing himself for the first time. The Chief of the Roman Assassins Guild, Septimus Aelius Priscus. He grabbed the Hasta with two hands, lifting the spearhead to aim for the closest of the six Silent Knight. "What will it be?"Septimus asked once more.
